What is VCA?

VOTECRAFT ALTRUISM (VCA) COIN is a currency built to reward civic participation. Current economies use currency to reward labor, production, and investment. VCA expands this model by recognizing civic and community participation as another category of contribution. The goal is not to replace existing currency, but to add a system that assigns tangible value to activities that positively impact communities—an altruism layer within capitalism.

The altruism coin system allows people to earn specific VCA tags through donations and other forms of community engagement. VCA can also be purchased directly, which earns a “Supporter” tag, and can be redeemed for U.S. dollars through VoteCraft’s redemption program. The redemption rate is designed to increase as the VoteCraft community grows. VCA transactions occur exclusively between users and VoteCraft, with activity tracked transparently within the system. VCA Coin is not a cryptocurrency and cannot be mined or resold between users. VCA reclaims the term “coin” to reflect the basic function of the system: a tangible unit of value that can be earned and exchanged in return for altruistic activity.

Tags and badges both involve reputation in some way — that can start to feel like the gamified credit-scoring and loyalty apps some platforms run, so it’s worth being direct about how VoteCraft is built differently, on purpose. We think civic life should run on trust and generosity, not surveillance and control — a system that can punish you or follow you outside the app isn’t one we’re willing to build.

Why VCA gets cheaper as VoteCraft grows

VoteCraft takes a cut when you cash VCA back out to real money — that cut is what funds the platform itself. Buying VCA or donating never has a separate VoteCraft fee: game and donation pricing already bake it in, with nothing broken out to the buyer. As more people join the altruism economy, VoteCraft’s cost of operating per person goes down, so the cash-out fee drops too — permanently, at each milestone.
